One sheet privacy and the conditions of reading
The small print, written large enough to read.
This is the one sheet that governs The Intake Desk: the first half says what the pages record about a reader and what a reader may ask; the second half says on what terms the seven tickets are offered. Both halves are written by the clinic, in its own words, under Brazilian law.
Part one: what is recorded
- 1.1 The party responsible for any personal data touched by these pages is Hamanda Tereza Batista Santos Ltda, the company that trades as Ebenezer, whose address and registry number are printed at the foot of every page. The company handles data under Brazil's Law No. 13.709/2018, the General Data Protection Law, and acts as its own data protection officer, through the e-mail address below.
- 1.2 The pages have no account, no comment box, no newsletter and no form. They set no cookie of their own, carry no analytics script and no advertising pixel, and nothing is stored in the reader's browser by the clinic. What exists is text, a stylesheet, a small icon and, where a photograph is shown, that photograph.
- 1.3 Two kinds of data can still arise. The hosting provider, Cloudflare, Inc., writes the usual server log when a page is delivered: the requesting address, the time, the page, the browser. Those lines stay with the provider, for a short period, for security and for an aggregate count, and the clinic sees them only as totals. The second kind is whatever a reader writes in an e-mail to the clinic, which stays in the clinic's mailbox while the exchange remains open and as long as Brazilian rules on business correspondence require, and is then deleted.
- 1.4 Typefaces are fetched from Google Fonts, so the reader's browser sends Google the request that any font download involves. Apart from the host and the font service, no third party receives anything from these pages, and nothing is sold, rented or matched to a profile.
- 1.5 A reader whose data the clinic holds may ask what it is, obtain a copy, have it corrected, have it deleted or locked where there is no longer a reason to keep it, learn whether it was passed to anyone, withdraw a consent and object to a use. The request goes to contato@hadadme.com; the clinic answers within 15 business days of receiving it and may first ask for something that shows the request comes from the person concerned. A reader who gets no answer, or an unsatisfying one, may complain to the Brazilian authority for data protection, the ANPD, at gov.br/anpd.
Part two: the conditions of reading
- 2.1 The seven tickets are general reading on everyday habits, offered free of charge to adults. They are written with care and from what research has looked at, but they are not medical advice, they are not tailored to any reader, and reading them creates no relationship of any kind with the clinic.
- 2.2 Nothing on these pages is meant to start, change or stop any treatment, medicine or routine that a physician has set for the reader. Where a page tells the reader to take a question to a physician, that sentence is part of the answer, not a formality. In an emergency the pages are useless by design: in Brazil the ambulance number is 192; elsewhere, the local emergency number applies.
- 2.3 The clinic answers for the accuracy of its registry details and for the care put into the text, and for nothing beyond that. It does not warrant that a habit described on a page will suit any particular reader, and it accepts no liability for what a reader does, or does not do, after reading. Whoever reads does so on his own judgment.
- 2.4 Short passages may be quoted, with the name of the section and a link to the page, for comment, review or teaching. Copying a whole page, or re-publishing the set elsewhere, requires written permission from the clinic. Photographs belong to the clinic or are used with the permission of their owners.
- 2.5 At present the pages link only to the clinic's own cover sheets. The company is nonetheless enrolled with retail referral networks, and a future page on this domain might send a reader to an online store or show a video about a product; if a purchase followed, the store could pay the company a commission. Any such page will announce itself at the top. None of the seven tickets is, or will become, such a page, and the clinic answers for nothing that happens on an outside site.
- 2.6 These conditions, and the privacy half above them, fall under Brazilian law, and a disagreement the mailbox cannot resolve goes before the courts of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. The clinic may rewrite this sheet when the pages change or the law does; whatever is displayed at this address when a reader opens it is what binds both sides, and a dated line at the bottom will mark any revision that matters.
